The purpose of this Association is first to help you develop ways to live a better life and second gain the confidence and assurance of being able to defend yourself.
The acquisition of physical skill is obtained through serious and vigorous training. Humility is strength in its greatest form. To acquire the knowledge of jujutsu can only be achieved through humility and sincere training.
Train seriously with the Shodan (black belt) as your goal. Once you attain this goal, train harder to acquire all the skill and knowledge possible for your bene fit and for the benefit of others. You will become a person strong, yet gentle, with full consideration and tolerance for others. You will be able to forgive and respect.
The world is composed of opposites. There are two opposite roads in life, the path of life and the path of death; there are the opposite sexes, man, and woman; there is day and there is night, so it is with our martial arts, whose opposites are humility and might. Make them one.
The objectives of this Association are the encouragement of systematic practice of Danzan Ryu Jujutsu and related arts as taught by Professor H.S. Okazaki and perpetuated by Professors Sig Kufferath and Tony Janovich.
· To establish and maintain, by founding, affiliation, or otherwise, schools for the instruction in the art of Danzan Ryu Jujutsu,
· The establishment of a set of standards for qualification as instructor in the arts, and for promotion to the different ranks.
· To promote and improve the physical and mental health and character of its members.

Jujutsu also known as Jiu-jitsu or Jujitsu (Jujutsu is the oldest way to translate the kanji) is a Japanese art that was established by the Samurai in the Nara period in Japan (c. 710 – c. 794). It was established by battlefield combatants and was called “Yawara” it was later established as Jujutsu with styles be formed as early as the 12th Century (1100s) and was not coined Jujutsu widely until the 17th Century (1600s). Jujutsu was established for combat for when you would have to fight on the battlefield after you did not have access to your weapons, therefore the system is heavily focused on throwing and locks as striking is difficult with armored opponents and this is why more strikes can be easily moved over to weapon strikes. The system has been used and changed over time to reflect its use on the battlefield from Samurai to Police and from civilian self-defense to self-improvement. A large subset of techniques (in some cases the entire curriculum) from certain styles of jujutsu were used to develop many modern sport and combatant martial arts such as: Judo, Aikido, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu by way of Judo (Mitsuyo Maeda), Krav Maga, and many others.
Jujutsu is two Kanji , “Ju” which can be translated as "gentle, soft, supple, flexible, pliable, or yielding", and "Jutsu" can be translated as "art, technique, or method". "Jujutsu" thus is often called "gentle-art" we prefer the translation of “yielding-method” which better reflects the actual use techniques in the way we practice and execute techniques. Jujutsu strategy is around using your opponent’s energy against them and not forcefully redirecting them (“if they push you pull, if they pull you push”). That said, there are still techniques that embody the “Go” method (hard, forceful, or advancing) at a tactical level to achieve desired results. If practiced in earnest a much smaller person can dispatch a larger and stronger opponent through proper use of techniques, intent, and surprise.
